The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is a World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race which is renowned for being one of the fastest courses in the world. In the ranking of fastest marathon cities, the largest marathon of the Netherlands is in fourth place. Highlights of the course include the start and finish in the Olympic Stadium, the passage through the Rijksmuseum and along the Heineken Experience, stretches along the Amstel and through the Vondelpark. The half marathon & 8K will take place the same day.

The itinerary below reflects the 2 nights package. A longer stay is recommended, please refer to 3 & 4 night options for a more inclusive experience.
Arrival Day, Expo & Pasta Dinner
Make your own arrangements to arrive at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 3pm. If you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.
You must visit the Expo and collect your race documents today. Please make your own way there, in your own time. Instructions will be provided with the final itinerary. The International Marathon Expo is open today between 9:00am and 7:00pm.
Tonight, please join us for a pre-race pasta dinner at the International Pasta Party. In line with the global tradition, the evening before the marathon you can carbo load at the official pasta party in the VIP tent in the middle of the historic Olympic Stadium. This is included in your package and will ensure a good meal and drink in the company of your fellow runners. Marathon Tours & travel will escort you to the venue.

Race Day and Celebrations!
Breakfast at the hotel will be available from 6.30am. The start venue for the marathon, half marathon and 8km is outside the Olympic Stadium and easily accessible in 30 minutes by combination of train and walking. Please leave plenty of extra time to make your way through the crowds to drop off your bag (if you chose this option) and to find your specific start pen. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials, run and have fun!
The Marathon & Half route passes by the Mercure Amsterdam City Hotel. Perfectly positioned for race day and to cheer on the runners.
After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!
Tonight, we will gather in the hotel bar for a post-race celebration and drink!

Expo & Pasta Dinner
After breakfast we will escort you to the Expo to collect your race registration pack. However, if you wish to make your own way there, in your own time instructions will be provided with the final itinerary. The International Marathon Expo is open today between 9:00am and 7:00pm. Your race pack must be collected today, latest.
An alternative to consider is the Good Morning City Run which you can arrange directly online.
The guides from Tourist Run Amsterdam will lead you through Amsterdam in groups of 10 to 15 people, where you can enjoy all the tourist and historical attractions. Two beautiful routes are available for you. The 3.5K route (about 2 miles) will take you along the canals, the Flower Market, The Rembrandtplein and Museumplein. The 6.5K route (about 4 miles) will include the canals, the Dam square, the Skinny Bridge and the Museum square. The guides will run at an easy pace. It is not a race, so enjoy!- The start is between 9.00am and 9.30am (every minute one group will depart)

- There is a clothing drop-off available at the start
- Cost is € 12.50 per person and is subject to availability, book here.

Mercure Amsterdam City Hotel
Mercure Amsterdam City hotel is a very convenient location next to the Amstel River and only 500 metres from the Overamstel train station, which allows easy access to all areas of the city. The hotel has free highspeed WIFI throughout, a sauna, fitness room, bar, restaurant and serves a delicious breakfast buffet.

Enter the 2023 Amsterdam Marathon with Marathon Tours & Travel
A flat, fast marathon course in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, this is definitely a race to talk to your running club about. Looking to set a new PB? What better place to do it than against the wonderous backdrop of Amsterdam.
Our hotel is located within easy reach of the race start and finish and you’ll also be invited to take part in warm up runs, join the international pasta party and pick your distance; Marathon, Half Marathon or 8K! Whichever distance you choose, our team will be on hand for guidance and support to make your trip a success.
Free T Shirt Included with Marathon Entry
We are very pleased to offer guaranteed entry into the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. Entry for the Half Marathon and 8K are also available and we include the official race T-Shirt in our entry price!
Eligibility: Marathon Tours & Travel, an authorised tour operator, is required to offer travel arrangements in conjunction with guaranteed race entry. All runners must be 18 years or older to participate in the marathon or half marathon and 14 years or older on race day to participate in the 8k.
Race rules and general race T&C’s apply.
Number Pickup: You must pick up your race bib and packet at the International Marathon Expo prior to race day.
Temperature: Average temperatures on race day are between 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
Awards: Every finisher receives a medal.

The Marathon
Course
Start and finish at the Olympic Stadium the marathon course is fast, flat and leads runners through the sights and sounds of Amsterdam.
Race Time: 09:00 – 09:30 am
Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy:
The time limit for the Marathon is 6 hours. The finish in the Olympic Stadium closes at 17.00 hours. This following km-points should be reached at:
- 5 km – 10.12 hours
- 10 km – 10.54 hours
- 15 km – 11.36 hours
- 20 km – 12.19 hours
- 25 km – 13.01 hours
- 42,195 km – 17.00 hours
Runners who are reached by the sweeper vehicle, based on the passing-time table, and will therefore certainly exceed the time limit will be called upon by a member of the jury to leave the race and, for reasons of safety, get into the broom wagon. Should you decide to continue the race, despite the request of the jury member, you do so at your own risk. Remember, the course will be opened to traffic again once the broom wagon has passed. The water points and medical care points will also be removed, and it will no longer be possible to end in the Olympic Stadium. If you are removed from the race, you will not be eligible for a medal.
The Half Marathon
Course
Start and finish at the Olympic Stadium the half marathon is the biggest in the Netherlands and consists of one loop, most of which passes through the centre of Amsterdam. course is fast, flat and leads runners through the sights and sounds of Amsterdam.
Race Time: 1:00pm – 1:50pm
Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy: The time limit for the half Marathon is 3 hours.
The 8k
Course
Start and finish at the Olympic Stadium the 8k is part of the marathon course, you can expect to pass the Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark before finishing at the Olympic stadium.
Race Time: 9:40am – 9.50am
Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy: The time limit for the 8k is 65 minutes. After 10.55 hours, finishing in the Olympic Stadium is no longer possible.

Payments
When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is an essential part of any holiday you take, and we highly recommend that you purchase suitable insurance for your trip. You must ensure that your travel insurance policy also covers you to participate in running events.
Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and /or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
Race Rules
Our itinerary and details regarding the race are based on current information available at the time this package was released for sale. Whilst we expect the details to remain correct, changes are possible and will be confirmed nearer to the trip after the race organisers have confirmed final instructions. All race rules and procedures need to be followed.
Starting Pens and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2023 Amsterdam Marathon events we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will send you instructions which will allow you to complete the registration process for your chosen 2023 Amsterdam Marathon event. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information provided.
