Cape Town Marathon, 10K, 5K & Trails 2023
Run an Abbott World Marathon Majors Candidate Race
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is a world class event; Africa’s only AIMS Gold Label Marathon and an Abbott World Marathon Majors Candidate. There is great excitement behind the event – a fantastic celebration of the cultural diversity of South Africa showcasing what can be achieved when we unite behind a common purpose. Cape Town, known as the Mother City has a long and well documented history and really speaks for itself. There is plenty to see and do during your stay with lots of internationally acclaimed restaurants, shops and attractions to visit.
We concentrate on the main event, a ‘tweaked’ faster and flatter route is planned for 2023 but based on 2022 the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon starts in the V&A Waterfront area, runs in the shadow of Table Mountain along a fast route down to the Southern Suburbs and back to finish in the city outside Cape Town Stadium. Hosted in a unique city that brings the best of all worlds together, the marathon will enable runners from Africa and around the globe to experience the spirit of running an African Major. Set in the beautiful, international city of Cape Town on the tip of South Africa it embodies the beauty of the sea and mountains of the Cape. Alongside the marathon (Sunday) the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon weekend includes a 10km Peace Run, 5km Peace Run and two trail runs (Saturday); 46km & 22km.
Whilst in South Africa take advantage of the diversity of the landscape and people and explore. Make memories – its a country that you will not forget.
