Run the 2023 Sydney Marathon

The Sydney Marathon is part of a running festival which includes a choice of distances. Starting from 6.20am with the half marathon, followed by the marathon, 10k and 3.5k fun run. A world class event, it has consistently achieved IAAF Road Race Gold Label status and is an Abbott World marathon majors candidate race. The marathon is run on a spectacular course showing off the iconic sights of Sydney.

Sydney is Australia’s largest and most famous city. You can expect to experience the fascinating vibey harbour, white sandy beaches of Bondi Beach, the unique Sydney Opera House with its defined shape, like billowing white sails, and the impressive steel arch of the Harbour Bridge. As with any major city you can discover so much more to see and do. This beautiful cosmopolitan city is a celebration of cultural diversity and heritage, and has a passion for arts and sports.

A trip to Australia would not be complete without experiences such as Sydney Bridge Climb, Blue Mountains Hike and a visit to the Great Barrier Reef to explore and relax after your race. All optional and available with us.

      The Course

Introduced in 2001, the Sydney Marathon followed the same course as the marathon during the 2000 Summer Olympics the previous year. The marathon and half-marathon both finish at the Sydney Opera House, while the shorter runs end at the Royal Botanic Gardens. In 2010 the marathon course was changed to flatten it out which, according to the organizers, makes it “a faster, more scenic and spectator friendly course”. The Sydney Marathon, Half-Marathon and the Bridge Run courses are AIMS Certified accurate courses. Marathon Course Map and Marathon Course Profile.
