In the heart of Tuscany – old world charm, endless stunning vistas, and unrivalled food and wine await. The EcoMaratona del Chianti hosts a marathon, half-marathon and 10K. The marathon begins at Brolio Castle, site of the oldest vineyard in Italy. All distances take the runner on trails through woods, vineyards and rolling hills, which have inspired artists for centuries.

Arrival Day
Welcome to Italy! Once you arrive into the Florence Airport (FLR), make your way to Siena for check-in for your two-night stay at the NH Siena Hotel. This afternoon, we welcome you to join a two-hour guided walking tour of Siena. Later this evening we will gather for a welcome drink at the hotel and then make our way to the Vinattieri Restaurant for our welcome dinner. (Dinner included)

Montepulciano
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, be prepared for a half-day excursion with private bus and English speaking guide to Montepulciano. You will enjoy wine-tastings with a light lunch in Montepulciano. In the afternoon, return to Siena for a leisure evening on your own. (Breakfast and light lunch included)

Wine Cellar Walk & Expo
Following breakfast be prepared to check-out as we prepare to leave for the next three nights at the Relais Borgo Scopeto in the Tuscan hillside. Our first stop will be Castelnuovo Berardenga where we will begin our five-hour Wine Cellar Walk “Emoziani Chianti Classico”. Upon returning to Castelnuovo Berardenga, you will have leisure time to pick up your race entry at the Expo in Piazza Marconi. Our last stop is the Relais Borgo Scopeto Hotel. This evening we will gather for our pre-race dinner at the hotel. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Race Day!
After an early breakfast we will transfer to Castelnuovo Berardenga for the start of the marathon, half-marathon and 13KM (all begin at 9:30 AM). Lunch will be at your leisure with private transfers back to the hotel at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM. Join us this evening at our hotel for a post-race celebration dinner. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day of Tuscan Lifestyle
Following breakfast, you will have two activity options to choose from or enjoy a free day on your own.
- Cooking Class at Toscana Mia with lunch included. (Max of 16 persons)
- Mountain e-bikes for individual biking tours with wine tastings and lunch (on own) in the Chiantishire area. Note: these bikes have a motor assist for easily climbing the hilly terrain.
In the early evening, we will transfer to Radda in Chianti for our farewell dinner. (Breakfast and dinner included)

About Ecomaratona del Chianti

The Course:
The marathon starts at Castello di Brolio, a 12th century castle in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. The route loops past historic villages, farms and vineyards. As has been commented by one runner, it can be said it will be like running through a museum and admiring paintings and photographs where only the frame is missing. The finish is in the village of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The course is very tough and times are quite slow.
The half-marathon starts in the village of Castelnuovo Berardenga and is mostly run on trails looping through farms, villages and vineyards. This hilly and very challenging course is a good test for any runner.
Temperature: Average temperatures range between 45F and 65F with low humidity.
Guaranteed Entry Procedure: We offer a guaranteed entry when you book our package. An official entry form will be forwarded to you after receipt of a completed tour application form and deposit.
Course Time Limit: There is an 8-hour time limit for the marathon.
Number Pickup: In Castelnuovo Berardenga after the wine and dine walk.
Eligibility: All runners must be at least 21 years of age on race day.
